$33.06 total. Zero tip. And that’s the part everyone wants to argue about.
Why is no one asking why someone might tip zero?
How is it automatically framed as bad behavior instead of a response.
Maybe service was minimal. Maybe it was quick, transactional, or rushed. Maybe dining costs already stretched the family budget, or the bill crossed a line after tax. With food prices up, everyday expenses piling on, and consumer spending already tight, not every restaurant bill leaves room for extra percentages.
Tipping culture keeps assuming the customer is the problem. Sometimes it’s just math. Sometimes it’s the cost of living showing up at the table.
