i let my girlfriend move in for a week and my apartment started smelling like something crawled in and died. I blamed the pipes, paid for a plumber, then paid for a deep clean because I refuse to live in filth. Turns out the “mystery odor” was her favorite leg pillow. Dark red stains all over it and it smelled like a swamp. I was embarrassed the cleaner even had to touch it.
I lost it. I told her that if she’s going to bleed on things, at least wash them instead of marinating them in my bedroom. She started crying about how I’m “insensitive” and that it’s normal and I should be supportive. Supportive of what? A biohazard cushion? I bagged it up with gloves like it was toxic waste and set it outside.
Then I went further. I sent a photo of it to her best friend and said, “Come get your girl and her crime scene pillow.” She packed her stuff and left, calling me cruel. I still stand by it. If basic hygiene makes me the villain, fine. I’m not sleeping next to something that smells like a swamp just to protect someone’s feelings.
