I was just trying to grab a couple of items at Walmart and get out when I noticed a cart rolling by that looked like someone was stocking up for months. It was piled high with cereal, frozen chicken, canned goods, drinks, bread—basically the whole store packed into one cart.
Meanwhile, I’m standing there deciding whether I can afford the name brand cereal or if I should stick with the store brand this week. This person didn’t seem to hesitate at all, just loading up enough groceries to feed a whole group. At one point, the cart was so full they were stacking things on top just to keep it all from falling.
It’s hard not to notice something like that when you’re trying to be mindful of your own budget. It makes you wonder what a total like that looks like at checkout.
At the end of the day, maybe everyone just shops differently. Some people plan big and stock up, and others have to take it one trip at a time.
