When My Doctor Husband Ignored My Pain—A Mother’s Instinct Saved Us

I’m 4 months pregnant, and my husband is an obstetrician. Recently, I started feeling cramps in my back and lower abs. My husband said the pain would go away in a few days, but it didn’t. Four days later, I asked him to take me to the hospital, but he refused because…

…he believed I was simply overthinking due to anxiety. He said he had seen hundreds of similar cases and insisted that stress was making it worse. But deep down, I knew something was wrong. The pain felt different—it was persistent, sharp, and nothing like what I had read or expected.

That night, while he was on call at the clinic, I couldn’t sleep. My instincts kept whispering, “Protect your baby.” So, I called my sister, who immediately drove me to the hospital. After an ultrasound and a few tests, the doctor told me I had a mild infection that could have affected the pregnancy if left untreated for much longer. Thankfully, we caught it in time, and treatment was started right away.
